Type as interface: when the label is the UI

Sometimes the strongest control on the screen is a word set in the right weight.

I have been stripping chrome out of interfaces to see how far typography alone can carry the interaction. No buttons, no borders — just a label that changes state, a number that becomes a slider, a heading that doubles as the navigation.

Reading is interaction

When the type does the work, the interface stops feeling like a form to fill and starts feeling like a sentence to finish. It is harder to get right and far easier to break, but when it lands the whole thing reads as calm instead of busy.
